Incidents

  • USC umbrella misidentification (Aug. 24, 2025)

On August 24, 2025, during a swatting hoax at the University of South Carolina, Rep. Mace posted a photo to her 500,000 followers on X identifying a student carrying an umbrella as the 'alleged school shooter.' The post was deleted after it was determined to be a swatting hoax.

  • The pink-pajamas all-night road trip to the 'Big, Beautiful Bill' vote

When her flights to Washington were canceled, Rep. Nancy Mace livestreamed an overnight drive from Charleston to the Capitol in pink polka-dot pajamas to be there for the House's final vote on the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. Across July 1 and 2, 2025, she posted from a Wawa, a Waffle House, and a hired van under the banner 'One Big Beautiful Girl's Road Trip,' arriving with the caption: 'No sleep, no problem. Pink pajamas and all, we're here to pass @POTUS's Big, Beautiful Bill.' The posting spree drew mockery from the left and from the MAGA right alike.

  • The Michael Eric Dyson "we look good together" texts

After clashing with Vanderbilt professor Michael Eric Dyson on a CNN panel on August 15, 2024, Rep. Nancy Mace used a House Oversight Committee hearing on September 19, 2024 to enter into the official congressional record a screenshot of a text she said Dyson sent her: "Shh don't tell anybody. We look good together," with a kissy emoji. Dyson denied hitting on her, said it was a joke, and called Mace "a bigot and racist."

Mockery & memes

  • "I know where all the waffles are being cooked."

As Mace tweeted about the Doug Band/Epstein/Clinton disclosures, Mar (@Mardabadguy) replied with an AI-generated image of Mace in a full Waffle House uniform, spatula in hand, declaring: "I know where all the waffles are being cooked.", a parody of her recurring "I know where all the bodies are buried" Epstein rhetoric.

  • "I Muted Nancy Mace and Life Is So Much Better"

On the Fourth of July 2026, Rep. Nancy Mace posted a "250 years... God bless the United States" message. Koosemar (@koosemar) replied with a fake wellness-magazine cover, "CLEARER," whose headline read "I MUTED NANCY MACE AND LIFE IS SO MUCH BETTER," reframing the act of muting her as self-care.

  • Endora's Grok Imagine flame clip

After Rep. Nancy Mace quote-posted the "Hold the Waffle" meme, Endora (@EndoraArodne) replied with a short Grok Imagine video showing a stylized Mace figure with hair and earrings on fire, captioned, "You're drunk again, aren't you Nanc."

  • "Hold the Waffle"

After Rep. Nancy Mace posted a branded "Hold the Line" graphic, Mar (@Mardabadguy) answered with a "Hold the Waffle" edit that swapped the Capitol backdrop for Waffle House, tying Mace's tough-on-accountability slogan back to her long-running Waffle House biography.

  • The pink-pajamas road-trip mockery

When Rep. Nancy Mace livestreamed an overnight drive to Washington in pink pajamas to vote for the 'Big, Beautiful Bill' in July 2025, much of the loudest mockery came from her own side. Conservative accounts ratioed the posts as attention-seeking 'performance art,' with Collin Rugg calling it 'What a clown' and others telling her to 'put on some presentable clothes and get to work.'

  • The hot-tub "best friend's mom" meme

A widely circulated hot-tub photo of Nancy Mace has been remixed into the stock "POV: your best friend's mom on a family ski trip" meme template, reposted by joke accounts since at least early 2025.
