'No sleep, no problem. Pink pajamas and all': Mace livestreams an overnight pajama road trip to the 'Big, Beautiful Bill' vote
With her flights to Washington canceled, Rep. Nancy Mace hired a van and drove overnight from Charleston to the Capitol in pink polka-dot pajamas, posting the whole way under the banner 'One Big Beautiful Girl's Road Trip.' She stopped at a Wawa (AC/DC, 'If D.C. had a theme song') and a Waffle House, and arrived July 2, 2025 with the line: 'No sleep, no problem. Pink pajamas and all, we're here to pass @POTUS's Big, Beautiful Bill.' The House passed the bill the next day.
In the first days of July 2025, the House was racing to pass the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, the budget-reconciliation package carrying President Donald Trump's agenda, before a self-imposed July 4 deadline. Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) said her flights between Charleston and Washington were canceled, so she hired a van with a driver and made the overnight drive, filming nearly all of it for social media in pink polka-dot pajamas under the banner "One Big Beautiful Girl's Road Trip."
She arrived the morning of July 2, 2025, and posted:
No sleep, no problem. Pink pajamas and all, we're here to pass @POTUS's Big, Beautiful Bill.

The journey was a running social-media production. At a Wawa, she posted a clip set to AC/DC's "Highway to Hell" captioned "If D.C. had a theme song …" At a Waffle House she posed with the staff and wrote:
"From one Waffle House waitress to another, thank you for showing up, working hard, and keeping the coffee hot. We haven't forgotten where we came from."
The posts went viral, and the mockery came from the left and from the MAGA right alike. Mace, who was at the time running for governor of South Carolina, later brushed it off:
"Yes, I have pajamas. Yes, I sometimes like to make jokes. Some of them are good. Some of them don't land, but I do like to laugh and have fun."
