"There is no such thing as a trans kid," then "This": Mace endorses a follower's "just fcked up parents" reply
On August 4, 2026, at 2:30 PM ET, Rep. Nancy Mace posted on her official congressional X account, @RepNancyMace: 'There is no such thing as a trans kid.' The standalone post drew roughly 22,000 likes and about 880 replies. The next afternoon, August 5, Mace quote-tweeted one of the replies to it, a message from the account @GuntherEagleman that read 'Just fcked up parents,' and added a single word of her own: 'This.' Mace did not write the 'fcked up parents' line herself; a follower did, and she endorsed it by quote-tweeting it. Both of Mace's posts sit on her official House account and fit a cluster of statements she made about transgender people across late July and early August 2026. The one-word endorsement
Among the replies to that post was a message from the account @GuntherEagleman, posted at 7:42 PM ET the same evening, which read:
"Just fcked up parents."

The next afternoon, at 4:15 PM ET on August 5, 2026, Mace quote-tweeted that reply from her official account and added a single word of her own:

To be precise about who said what: Mace did not write the words "fcked up parents." A follower, the account @GuntherEagleman, wrote them (the abbreviated spelling is his). What Mace did was endorse and amplify that reply, quote-tweeting it to her own audience with the affirming "This." A quote-tweet reproduces the original message inside the new post, so the effect was to surface the follower's characterization of the parents of transgender children, tagged with Mace's agreement.
Both of Mace's posts, the "no such thing as a trans kid" statement and the "This" endorsement, ran on @RepNancyMace, her official U.S. House account (carrying X's government verification), rather than her personal @NancyMace account.
The pattern this fits
These posts are not isolated. They sit inside a run of Mace statements about transgender people made across late July and early August 2026, and on top of a multi-year record. In her own words, dated:
- July 21, 2026: at a House Oversight hearing, questioning Smithsonian museum director Dr. Anthea Hartig, “So when was your gender revealed to you, Dr. Hartig?”

Earlier entries in the same record include her November 2024 resolution barring transgender women from Capitol restrooms, introduced days before Rep. Sarah McBride's swearing-in; her March 2025 "Estrogen doesn't love you" reply to a transgender person's transition photo; and her September 2025 remark that transgender people "should be in a straitjacket with a hard steel lock on it." The counter-record, in her own words
Mace frames her positions on gender as child protection: the "trans kid" post follows a stretch of her posts that invoke minors, and her supporters cite that framing and her record on women's-safety legislation. Her critics note that in 2022 she voted for the Respect for Marriage Act, which codified federal recognition of same-sex marriages, three years before her 2025 "Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve" campaign post. What this touches, and who has said what
The premise that "there is no such thing as a trans kid" runs opposite to the stated positions of major U.S. medical associations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Medical Association, which recognize gender dysphoria in minors and support age-appropriate, individualized care. The endorsed follower's line, attributing a child's transgender identity to "fcked up parents," is a characterization of the parents of transgender children; LGBTQ advocacy groups and family organizations dispute that framing. On Mace's earlier "straitjacket" comments, the Congressional Equality Caucus said Mace and Rep. Ronny Jackson were "calling for transgender people to be locked up against their will and institutionalized." The bill, H.R.4512, is real. So is the problem: the mice are transgenic, not transgender. Transgenic mice are genetically modified rodents used to study cancer, endometriosis, infertility and other diseases. Scientists and the research-advocacy group Americans for Medical Progress say the studies have nothing to do with gender identity. The post went viral as a self-own; the photo Mace attached is a standard transgenic research mouse.
