Privacy & Cookies
Maceopedia keeps data collection minimal. We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate site traffic, and beyond that we run no advertising or cross-site tracking. This notice explains what cookies are set and how to opt out.
Analytics
Maceopedia uses Google Analytics (GA4) to understand aggregate traffic, which pages are read, rough geographic region, and general device and browser type. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (such as _ga) to distinguish visitors and sessions. We use it only for aggregate statistics: we do not use advertising pixels, we do not build marketing profiles, and we do not sell or share personal information. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. To opt out, see “Your choices” below.
Cookies that can be set
Cookies on this site come from these sources:
- Google Analytics. Google Analytics (GA4) sets first-party cookies (such as
_ga) to measure aggregate traffic, repeat visits, sessions, and which pages are read. It is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking. - Social media embeds (X and Facebook). The Social Media page can display live X and Facebook feeds, and some dispatches embed individual posts. When those load, X or Facebook serves the content and sets its own cookies. On the Social Media page these feeds are click-to-load: nothing is requested from X or Facebook, and no such cookie is set, until you click to load a specific feed.
- Cloudflare Turnstile (submission form). The Submit Info form uses Cloudflare Turnstile, a privacy-oriented bot check, to stop spam. It may set a functional cookie strictly to perform that check. It is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking.
- Embedded video players (YouTube, C-SPAN, others). Where a page embeds a video, the player is served by that platform and may set cookies when it loads or plays. We use privacy-enhanced modes where a platform offers one (e.g. YouTube's no-cookie domain).
We never download and re-host third-party copyrighted media; embeds are served by the originating platform, which is why the platform's own cookies and privacy terms apply to them.
Your choices
- To opt out of Google Analytics on every site you visit, install Google's Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
- On the Social Media page, simply don't click “Load … feed” if you'd rather no X/Facebook content load. The direct profile links open the platform in a new tab instead.
- You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings at any time.
- For how X, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, or Cloudflare handle data, see each provider's own privacy policy.
Submissions
If you send material through the submission form, we receive what you type and any link you include so we can review it. Don't send anything you don't want recorded. Submissions are reviewed before anything is published.
