On CNN's Newsnight on August 15, 2024, after repeatedly mispronouncing Vice President Kamala Harris's name and being called out by panelist Michael Eric Dyson of Vanderbilt, Mace said:

"I will say Kamala's name any way that I want to… I just did and I'll do it again."

When accused of racism she responded: "Oh, so now you're calling me a racist. That is B.S." Later on X she wrote: "The Left would rather talk about pronouns and pronunciation than policy."
