"IDK who needs to hear this, but a consensual gangbang is not a rape": Nancy Mace posts it, and the reply section answers
On the night of October 8, 2026, Rep. Nancy Mace posted on X: 'IDK who needs to hear this, but a consensual gangbang is not a rape.' Most replies read it as a comment on the Cornell Chi Phi lawsuit. The reply section answered with a wave of 'I defer to your expertise' and 'speaking from experience' jokes. On her first recorded call with Ali Berg, in April 2024, Mace told Berg, who said she had no memory of the night, 'There's no way in hell you consented to it based on what I saw.' Her own words, side by side.

IDK who needs to hear this, but a consensual gangbang is not a rape.
Nancy Mace (@NancyMace) October 8, 2026
Her post does not name a case. It went up as the Cornell fraternity lawsuit was in the national news, and most replies read it as being about that case. As the Associated Press reported on October 3, a woman identified in court papers as Jane Doe has sued Cornell University and seven former students, alleging she was given ketamine and assaulted at the Chi Phi fraternity house in October 2024. The men deny wrongdoing. No one has been charged. The Tompkins County district attorney declined to file charges, and Gov. Kathy Hochul then named New York Attorney General Letitia James special prosecutor for a renewed criminal investigation. Those allegations are unproven.
Her own words, two years apart
Mace has talked about consent before, on tape. On April 6, 2024, she placed a call of about 44 minutes to Alexis "Ali" Berg, a former employee of the company of Mace's ex-fiancé. FITSNews published the full audio on June 7, 2026. Every line below is verbatim from that public audio, with the time it is said.
Left: a line Mace speaks to Berg on the recorded call (FITSNews audio, 28:10), set beside her official House portrait. Right: her October 8, 2026 post, captured from X.
On the call, April 6, 2024:
- 17:41, Mace: "I believe you were assaulted, and I, and I believe that he filmed it, and, um, you were passed out from what I could tell."
- 18:06, Mace: "I've been a victim. I do a lot of advocacy work for rape victims. I'm rewriting law."
- 18:19, Berg: "Can you, can you tell me what you mean by assaulted?"
- 18:23, Mace: "You appear to be passed out on the couch at one point. Um, and he had photos of you passed out on the couch. Um, but then there's a video."
- 18:36, Berg: "Oh my God."
- 21:17, Berg: "Like, honestly, I have no memory of any of that. I told you what I remember."
- 23:41, Mace: "I've survived a rape at 16."
- 28:10, Mace: "There's no way in hell you consented to it based on what I saw. None, zero."
On X, October 8, 2026:
- "IDK who needs to hear this, but a consensual gangbang is not a rape."
On the call, Mace told a woman who said she had no memory of the night that she believed she had been assaulted, and that there was "no way in hell" she had consented, "based on what I saw." On X, about a case she is not part of and a night she did not see, Mace posted that a consensual gangbang is not a rape. Her post states a general rule; it does not say what happened at Cornell. Readers can judge the two side by side.
The assault Mace describes on the call is her allegation. It is unproven and contested, and the people she names deny it. What each side has filed is public: Bryant's December 22, 2025 opposition in Berg v. Bryant says on page 5 that a "scheme to extort money from her former fiancé" is "on full display in the April 2024 recording" (the filing), and Mace's December 19, 2025 answer says on page 10, "Mace denies that any conspiracy existed or that Berg was targeted" (the filing). No court has ruled on either.
The record she brings to the word
Mace has made her own account of rape a public part of her career, in her own words:
- April 24, 2019, South Carolina House: "For some of us who have been raped, it can take 25 years to get up the courage and talk about being a victim of rape." (dispatch)
- November 19, 2024: "I'm a victim of abuse myself. I'm a rape survivor." (dispatch)
- February 10, 2025, House floor: "Mr. Speaker I rise today ready to call out the cowards who think they can prey on women and get away with it." (dispatch)
- September 2026, to Tara Palmeri: "I don't know that I would recommend women come forward, because you're not going to get what you seek out of it." (dispatch)
- September 2026, to Tara Palmeri: "I think Tara, it's really ugly to rape shame a woman for her political choices." (dispatch)
The reply section
Then there are the replies. More than 1,300 of them came in overnight, and a large share took the same two routes.
The "I defer to your expertise" wave
Four replies, captured logged out. Crémieux's drew about 1,000 likes, the most of any reply that morning.

- @Gerald_FordF150: "Speaking from experience eh?"
- @MilenaAmit: "Speaking from experience?"
- @Babygravy9: "When the voice of experience speaks, I sit my ass down and listen."
The one-liners
- @birddog171: "I'm confused...is this an invite?"
- @eatyourpopsicle: "i for a second read it “congressional gang bang”"

- @GL_golfwell: "Come back to my dorm after the COCKS game?"
- @BobbyNSteve1: "“Consensual gangbang” would be a great title for the podcast"

- @JOBGUAL: "A coma patient just woke up with no knowledge of what's going on the last 30 days and reading this?"
- @DavidMilliken: "“last edited” did you accidentally put a space between gang and bang when you first typed it and then realized, wait it was one word when I put it my dating profile."
- @DerekMondelli: "When are the invitations going out Nancy?"
- @tommyborumjokes: "Can ya open the DMs so media invites can go in there?"

- @BuggySimulation: "IDK who needs to hear this, but I bet Nancy Mace knows a lot about consensual gangbangs."
- @Disciple4Lif: "IDK who needs to hear this, but this is evil."
- @RichCarlsen: "Shouldn't you be sending out job applications?"
The jokes are the repliers' own. Each is quoted as posted and credited to its author.
Replies that go to the record
Not every reply was a joke. Some asked who gets to decide consent, which is the question her own call raises.
Replies on who decides consent. Captured logged out.
- @FranklySpeakP: "Can anyone tell me the context here?"
- @KimIversenShow (Kim Iversen): "Unless you consent to every single individual partner, it actually is."
- @Karen9915341154: "So you're judge and jury and have decided this was consensual. You are repulsive."
- @JohnnyHudSF: "And you decided this is the case how?"
- @Bogati2017: "How do you know it was consensual? Glad you lost."
- @AnaBeck95444: "You weren't there. You don't know what happened. You are just shaming another woman to feel superior. Shame on you."
Others went to her record as an advocate, and to her own allegations.
Replies about her record. Captured logged out. These are the repliers' views, not findings.
- @E_Over_Under: "So you don't stand for women after all. Disappointing."
- @ShoshanaPatriot: "I'm ashamed of you Nancy. Stop being a rape apologist."
- @BlackSheepSynd: "Then dont use “rape shaming” when people call you on your bullshit Nancy. I've seen no records or court documents in your rape allegations."
- @RealRayDonE: "That's rich coming from someone who has already falsely accused someone of sexual impropriety."
- @boothesrval: "So your rape was all good?? Ok maybe STFU"
- @kentuckygrl: "You signed Epstein #2. Yet you still support the people that enabled and protect it."
"Falsely" is @RealRayDonE's word, not Maceopedia's. Mace's allegations against the men she has named are unproven and contested, those men deny them, and the matters are still in litigation. No court has found any of her allegations false, and none has found them true.
Not every reply disagreed with her. @clemycali: "Some people have a hard time processing that engaging voluntarily in group sex is not rape." @anyanyaubong: "People need to understand that consent is the difference. If everyone involved is an adult and freely agrees, the number of people involved doesn't automatically make it rape. Consent can also be withdrawn at any time."
The replies, as a video
Her post, five replies quoted as posted, then her own words from the April 6, 2024 call.
The full audio
The full audio of the April 6, 2024 call, as published by FITSNews. The lines above start at 17:41.
The allegations Mace describes on the FITSNews recording are unproven, contested, and the subject of ongoing civil litigation in Charleston County and a South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) investigation. The people she names, including Patrick Bryant, who denies the allegations, as well as John Osborne and Eric Bowman, deny wrongdoing. Mace denies the claims made against her in the filings above. None of the underlying matters has been adjudicated. The Cornell allegations are likewise unproven, and the men named in that lawsuit deny wrongdoing. Nothing here is a finding of fact. Replies are quoted as posted and reflect only their authors' views.

October 11, 2026 · Dispatch"She should not have come forward": Nancy Mace on an Arizona candidate who says she was raped
On October 8, 2026, Rep. Nancy Mace posted on X about Bernadette Greene-Placentia, an Arizona congressional candidate who says she was raped while repairing a campaign sign: 'She should not have come forward, she will get excoriated for this.' Greene-Placentia told Phoenix New Times she spoke so women know 'it's okay to talk about it.' Mace's post, the candidate's own words, and Mace's own record on coming forward, from the South Carolina House floor in 2019 to her interview with Tara Palmeri in 2026.
October 9, 2026 · DispatchMediaite: "Rape Victim Nancy Mace Suggests Cornell 7's Jane Doe Was a Willing Participant in 'Consensual Gangbang'"
Mediaite's Jennifer Bowers Bahney reported on October 9, 2026 that Rep. Nancy Mace posted on X, 'IDK who needs to hear this, but a consensual gangbang is not a rape,' as the Cornell 'Jane Doe' case dominated the news. Mace's post names no case. Here is the post, the reporting, and the words Mace has spoken on rape, each in its own source.
October 6, 2026 · DispatchNancy Mace told a woman she had been sexually assaulted, then immediately pivoted to how to sue her ex-fiancé for "a million dollars"
On Nancy Mace's first recorded call with Ali Berg (April 6, 2024), Mace tells Berg she believes she was assaulted and, on the same call, lays out suing her ex-fiancé: 'it costs him a million dollars, or whatever that number is, six times 150.' Mace names the man she says she was told assaulted Berg once, with the word 'maybe,' and says 'I don't know if it was him.' On the same call she refers to suing her ex-fiancé twelve times and describes how he would pay. Two new videos group the lines by topic, each verbatim, with a clock showing when it was said.
June 28, 2026 · DispatchIn an X thread, Mace says the amount should be higher. The public-record receipt says the earlier number was tied to photos.
After Maceopedia resurfaced the Berg-call line about '150K each,' Rep. Nancy Mace replied that the amount 'should be more' and connected the thread to 'what was done to me and others.' The public-record receipt matters because the recorded call discusses a civil lawsuit, photos, and money, not an adjudicated criminal finding.
June 7, 2026 · DispatchOn her first recorded call with Ali Berg, Mace lays out a civil suit against Patrick Bryant: 'He can sell a building or two, settle, be done' and accusers 'can get 150 K each'
FITSNews published the full audio of Nancy Mace's first recorded phone call with Ali Berg. Across 44 minutes Mace asks the call stay 'private,' spends little time on the alleged assault or the man she names as the assailant, never offers a victim advocate or a referral to law enforcement, and instead pitches a civil lawsuit against her ex-fiancé Patrick Bryant, predicting he will 'sell a building or two, settle,' and that accusers could 'get 150 K each.'
June 7, 2026 · Dispatch"You have to hit him in his pocketbook with a civil suit": the first recorded call with Ali Berg, in her own words
A produced supercut of Rep. Nancy Mace's first recorded phone call with Ali Berg (April 6, 2024), published by FITSNews on June 7, 2026, after the recording was produced in ADW v. Berg. Across 44 minutes Mace pitched a civil lawsuit and a payout, never suggested Berg go to the police, and never offered Berg a victim advocate or counselor.
