Nancy Mace Used AI-Enhanced Images of Herself in Her 'GET MACED' Podcast Branding
The intro montage in Rep. Nancy Mace's 'GET MACED' podcast opening includes frames showing an extensive colorful arm tattoo sleeve (an American-traditional eagle, mountain landscape, and roses) that does not appear in verified photographs of her, including real beach and surf footage from the same video. Her former campaign manager testified under oath that her tattoos are, 'I think words.' Mace has previously shared AI-generated images on social media and was publicly confronted about it in May 2026.
The "GET MACED" podcast intro that Nancy Mace posted to her own YouTube channel on August 12, 2026 includes frames showing her with a colorful full-arm tattoo sleeve (an American-traditional eagle, a mountain landscape scene, arm script, and roses spanning shoulder to wrist) that does not appear in verified photographs of her, nor in the real beach and surf footage from the same 30-second intro.
The same video contains both versions of her arms. Real surf footage near the close of the intro shows her holding a surfboard at the beach with arms clearly visible and no colorful sleeve present. Earlier in that same montage, the poolside selfie and a microphone appearance show the extensive colorful sleeve. The inconsistency is internal to her own video.
The Video
The intro appears in the opening 30 seconds of her August 12, 2026 YouTube upload:

What the Intro Shows
The opening montage includes at minimum two frames with the AI-enhanced sleeve:
- A poolside selfie in a black one-piece swimsuit and sunglasses, with a mountain-and-landscape tattoo on the inner upper arm, arm script on the forearm, and colorful eagle-and-roses work on the lower arm.
- A microphone appearance in a white tank top before a large crowd, with a colorful American-traditional eagle spanning the entire left upper arm.
Neither the colorful figurative eagle, nor the mountain landscape, nor the combination of work spanning shoulder to wrist matches anything documented in verified photographs of Mace or in testimony about her tattoos.
What Her Own Witness Said About Her Tattoos
The specific style and extent of the sleeves shown in the AI-enhanced frames is inconsistent with sworn testimony about what her tattoos actually are.
In a 2024 deposition filed publicly in GLT2 v. Mace, Mace's former campaign manager and longtime consultant Wesley Donehue testified about what Mace called her "stress tattoos" - the tattoos she said she got during a difficult period in late 2023 and early 2024. Asked what kind of tattoos she got:
Q: "Do you know what she would get stress tattoos of?"
A: "No. I think words." - Wesley Donehue, deposition (as filed in public court record)
That account - "words" - is consistent with what Mace described publicly in a February 2026 Politico profile: one of her nine tattoos is the opening line of Virginia Woolf's Mrs. Dalloway. It is not consistent with a colorful American-traditional eagle spanning the upper arm, or a landscape scene, or a full-arm color sleeve.
The Beach Footage From the Same Video
Among the other frames in the GET MACED intro is a surfing clip showing Mace carrying a surfboard in a black bikini, arms fully visible, with no colorful full-arm sleeve present.
That clip is from the same 30-second video opening.
The AI-enhanced poolside and microphone frames precede and follow it.
Her Own History With AI-Generated Images
This is not the first time AI-generated images of Mace have surfaced, or the first time she has been involved in posting them.
In May 2026, Mace shared AI-generated images of herself smiling alongside former President Trump on X. Community notes flagged the images as artificially generated. When confronted, Mace acknowledged having real photos with Trump while defending herself:

That same month, she criticized her then-opponent Pamela Evette for allegedly posting AI-generated videos of her, calling it "sort of scary to see that happening." (Reporting: The Daily Beast.)
A published fact-check from 2025 had already established that digitally edited images of Mace circulate. Check Your Fact, citing a Mace spokesperson, quoted the office as saying of one altered image: "This image is obviously not real." (AOL / Check Your Fact.)
Mace has not publicly commented on whether the arm-sleeve images in her GET MACED intro were AI-enhanced.
The Real Tattoos on the Record
By the account of her own former campaign manager, under oath, her tattoos are "I think words." By Mace's own account to Politico, one is the opening line of Mrs. Dalloway, located on the left side of her torso and "usually covered by her blazers." She has acknowledged getting nine tattoos "in rapid succession" in late 2023 and early 2024. No public reporting describes her having American-traditional eagle work, a mountain landscape, or a colorful full-arm sleeve.
The studio footage from her podcast videos, in which both arms are visible while she speaks at a desk, shows arm tattoos consistent with script and text work - not the colorful figurative sleeve depicted in the montage frames above.
