Nancy Mace Answers Boosie Badazz After Her Name Surfaces in a $600,000 Pardon-Scam Claim
A NOTUS investigation published July 13, 2026 reported that rapper Boosie Badazz paid Jacob Wohl and Jack Burkman about $600,000 on the promise of a presidential pardon, and that Wohl invoked a list of MAGA-aligned names, including Nancy Mace, as having endorsed the effort. Most named figures denied involvement or stayed silent, and Mace's office declined to comment to NOTUS. A day later, when Boosie publicly called out the same names on X, Mace was the one who replied and offered to connect him with her office staff.

A pardon push that went nowhere
On July 13, 2026, NOTUS (the Allbritton Journalism Institute's newsroom, reporters Jasmine Wright and Taylor Giorno) published an investigation titled "How Boosie Badazz's Pardon Push Turned Into a MAGA Mess." Per NOTUS, rapper Boosie Badazz (Torence Hatch) paid about $600,000 to right-wing operatives Jacob Wohl and Jack Burkman, through Burkman's lobbying firm JM Burkman & Associates, beginning in late September 2025. The pitch was that the pair could secure Boosie a presidential pardon on a federal felon-in-possession-of-a-firearm charge.
To back up that pitch, NOTUS reported that Wohl told Boosie's lawyer a list of MAGA-aligned figures had endorsed the pardon effort: Laura Loomer, Mike Cernovich, Jack Posobiec, Erika Kirk, House Speaker Mike Johnson, Rep. Nancy Mace, and Rep. Andy Biggs. A text message from Wohl, quoted by NOTUS, put it this way: "Everyone whose opinion he cares about has endorsed this."
No pardon ever came. Boosie pleaded guilty on August 26, 2025 to being a felon in possession of a firearm under 18 U.S.C. 922(g)(1), and on January 9 and 10, 2026, U.S. District Judge Cathy Ann Bencivengo of the Southern District of California sentenced him to time served, three years of supervised release, a $50,000 fine, and 300 hours of community service. Boosie himself has said, "I'm blessed not to be in prison right now."
What the named figures told NOTUS
NOTUS sought comment from each person Wohl had invoked. The results were mixed and, for the most part, distancing:
- Speaker Mike Johnson's office "categorically denied" any connection.
- Mike Cernovich told NOTUS he has never advocated for a pardon.
- A representative for Erika Kirk said she does not know who the rapper is and called any suggestion of a pardon endorsement "untrue."
- Laura Loomer and Jack Posobiec did not respond to NOTUS's requests for comment.
- Andy Biggs's office acknowledged the request but declined to respond.
- "Mace's office declined to comment," NOTUS reported.
A White House official told NOTUS that "the team at the White House working on clemency has never heard from Wohl or Burkman, does not support their work, and would advise anyone seeking clemency that their involvement will actively harm their chances."
There is no evidence in the NOTUS reporting that Mace had any role in the alleged scheme or any contact with Wohl or Burkman about it. She is named only because Wohl invoked her, along with six other prominent figures, to make the pardon push look credible.
The dispute over the money
In mid-July 2026, Boosie went public and moved to recover $300,000 of the roughly $600,000 he says he paid, citing a contract provision he says entitled him to a partial refund if no pardon was delivered. JM Burkman & Associates disputes owing anything, telling NOTUS that "no provision to return half the fee was ever actually agreed to" and that the firm did extensive work on Boosie's behalf. The firm added, "We continue to believe that Boosie very much deserves a pardon." These are competing claims in an ongoing dispute between Boosie and the operatives; Maceopedia takes no position on which side is correct.
Wohl and Burkman have a long documented history of political stunts predating this pardon effort, including fabricated sexual-assault allegations against Robert Mueller in 2018, Pete Buttigieg in 2019, and Anthony Fauci in 2020, and a 2020 voter-suppression robocall operation that drew a multimillion-dollar FCC penalty and a $1.25 million settlement with New York. Their 2025 pivot was pardon brokering.
Boosie calls out the names on X
On July 14, 2026, at 11:19 AM, Boosie posted the list of seven names on X (@BOOSIEOFFICIAL) and demanded answers, verbatim:
"CAN THE NAMES ABOVE PLEASE MAKE A TRUTHFUL STATEMENT ABOUT HAVING CONTACT R NO CONTACT WITH BURKMAN N WHOL ABOUT MY PARDON PROCESS. 600k WAS TAKEN FROM ME WITH YOUR NAMES MENTIONED N EMAILS BY THESE PEOPLE THANKS"
Boosie Badazz's post on X, July 14, 2026, drew roughly 1.3 million views.
Mace is the one who answered
About two and a half hours later, at 1:56 PM on July 14, 2026, Nancy Mace replied from her verified X account, @NancyMace:
"Yes, can you send me a DM so I can connect you with my office staff?"

Of the seven people Boosie tagged, Mace was the only one who publicly engaged with him and offered to connect him with her office. The day before, per NOTUS, her office had declined to comment on the same pardon-push story. The other named figures either denied involvement, stayed silent, or did not respond at all. Readers can draw their own conclusions from the contrast.

Nancy Mace's accusations against Musgrave. Bryant said Musgrave has been “completely exonerated of any wrongdoing” and that the allegations were “completely baseless.” Those are Bryant's words. The letters are prosecutors' reviews, not court findings. Musgrave denies Mace's accusations and has not been charged. Mace denies wrongdoing.
