Mace says Fauci has 'no legal grounds' to plead the Fifth. The law says otherwise.
Rep. Nancy Mace issued a press statement on July 29, 2026, claiming that because Anthony Fauci holds a Biden pardon, he has 'no legal grounds' to invoke the Fifth Amendment. The statement contains a critical legal error: the pardon covers past conduct, not future perjury, which is exactly what Fauci said he was protecting himself from. Mace's position also directly contradicts her separate statement calling the same pardon 'legally questionable,' and her track record on Fifth Amendment invocations suggests the legal framing is politically, not principally, driven.

Nancy Mace Answers Boosie Badazz After Her Name Surfaces in a $600,000 Pardon-Scam Claim
A NOTUS investigation published July 13, 2026 reported that rapper Boosie Badazz paid Jacob Wohl and Jack Burkman about $600,000 on the promise of a presidential pardon, and that Wohl invoked a list of MAGA-aligned names, including Nancy Mace, as having endorsed the effort. Most named figures denied involvement or stayed silent, and Mace's office declined to comment to NOTUS. A day later, when Boosie publicly called out the same names on X, Mace was the one who replied and offered to connect him with her office staff.
