Mace on potential governor rival: 'I will take him out'
On January 28, 2025, before formally announcing her own gubernatorial run, Mace vowed to personally ensure an unspecified potential opponent never became South Carolina's governor.
On January 28, 2025, jabbing at potential opponents in the South Carolina governor's race before declaring her own candidacy, Mace said:
"He has no business even thinking about running for governor, and I will take him out. I will personally make sure that he is never governor of South Carolina."
The remarks were made before Mace had formally entered the race, which she did in August 2025.
