'No, baby, you're not'

At a January 7, 2026 House Oversight hearing, Mace told Rep. Ayanna Pressley 'No baby, you're not. You are not in order. You're out of order. Goodbye. At a January 7, 2026 House Oversight Committee hearing, a confrontation between Rep. Nancy Mace and Rep. Ayanna Pressley erupted and was captured in a clip that circulated widely on social media, according to Mediaite and Yahoo News. Committee Chairman James Comer interjected first, "Ms. Pressley, Ms. Pressley, you've already secured your MSNDC spot tonight. Now your time's expired", attempting to wind down Pressley's remarks, per Mediaite. Mace then agreed with the MSNBC comparison before reclaiming her time: "And Mr. Chairman, I agree, she's going to be a great host on MSNBC." When Pressley continued speaking, Mace responded: "No baby, you are not. No baby, you're not. You are not in order. You're out of order. Goodbye. You're done." The clip went viral, with critics noting the irony of invoking congressional decorum with the word "baby" directed at a colleague. Mediaite reported that the full clip was available via C-SPAN.
