After Donald Trump endorsed Pamela Evette in the South Carolina Republican gubernatorial primary, Rep. Nancy Mace posted AI-generated images of herself alongside Trump to her X account, apparently implying his support. X Community Notes flagged the images as AI-generated. On June 7, 2026, CNN's Dana Bash pressed Mace on camera about the photos; Mace replied that she "ha[s] pictures with the president that are real," per The Daily Beast's reporting, without denying that the posted images were AI-generated. Mace did not advance beyond the primary, finishing fifth on June 10, 2026. The mockery centered on the double standard: Mace simultaneously attacked Evette's campaign over AI while posting AI-generated imagery herself.
Mace's original AI-image post (May 29, 2026, verified from Daily Beast article):
Pam Evette is NOT ENDORSED by DONALD TRUMP. Do not believe her LIES
