"I Do Politics Well": Mace's Own Words, Fact-Checked
In an interview with X personality Dominique Lucre, Nancy Mace claimed she 'does politics well,' that her kids are 'grown,' and that she has no regrets going it alone. Every major claim bounces off the public record.
In a casual sit-down with X personality Dominique Lucre, Nancy Mace offered a self-portrait: a strong, solitary figure who does politics well, works hard, and has made peace with raising grown kids alone. Her own record disagrees on every count.
Fact-check video: Mace's claims from the Lucre interview vs. her own words in other recordings.
"I Do Politics Well"
Mace (to Dominique Lucre, September 2026): "I do politics well. I do business well. I don't do the personal thing. It's just been a struggle."
The record:
South Carolina Governor primary, June 10, 2026: Mace gave up her safe House seat, bet her career on a single issue (keeping Rep. Sarah McBride out of a Capitol bathroom), and finished fifth out of six Republican candidates with approximately 12 percent of the vote. She lost to a first-time candidate who had never held elected office.
Rep. McBride, speaking at the LGBTQ Victory Fund Champions Gala that night: "Congress's top bathroom sheriff, Nancy Mace, is on the ballot — and she is in a respectful fifth place. I don't like punching down and I believe in the politics of grace. So all I will say is happy Pride, Nancy."
Congress — 90 bills, zero laws: Tara Palmeri pressed Mace on the same theme in an interview published August 30, 2026. Palmeri: "You introduced 90 bills this Congress alone." Mace's answer: zero became law.
Her own exit statement: The same Palmeri interview produced the plainest summary of Mace's legislative tenure in her own words:
"It's also why I'm leaving Congress — because I can't get shit done."
"My Kids Are Grown"
Mace (to Dominique Lucre): "I'm almost 50. My kids are grown."
Later, when the interviewer noted she still has kids at home:
"But they're grown up now. I can, nobody nags me when I come home."
Court records tell a different story. Mace has two children with her ex-husband Curtis Jackson. Her younger child is 17 years old and in high school. Court records show joint custody; the child lives with her father. Her son Miles (born approximately December 2006) is 19. One of her two children is a minor in high school who, by court record, does not live with Mace. Claiming both kids are "grown" discards the one who isn't.
"I Don't Have Any Friends Up Here"
Mace: "It is lonely. But I don't have any friends up here. What does it really matter?"
Four terms and no friends in Congress. Mace has been censured by colleagues, stripped of committee assignments, and publicly mocked by members of both parties. Her own account of her social situation in Washington squares with the record.
"I Don't Recommend Divorce"
Mace: "It's lonely. I don't recommend divorce. I recommend to my friends, stay married."
Mace has been married and divorced twice. The advice tracks the experience.
The Lindsay Clancy Comment
Mace: "Last night, I'm going toe to toe with Kevin Reddington over the Lindsay Clancy case. Like, I enjoy that. I don't want to give that up."
Lindsay Clancy killed her three young children in January 2023. Kevin Reddington is the criminal defense attorney who represented her at trial, which ended in a mistrial. "Going toe to toe" with Reddington means arguing against him: Mace has been publicly pro-conviction, calling Clancy "no different than any other serial killer" on the Shotgun channel the same week. She was bragging about enjoying the fight for a conviction.
The Full Exchange — Key Passages
Full verbatim transcript, from the Dominique Lucre interview (September 2026), lightly condensed to key exchanges:
On suitors after the tattoo story:
Mace: "I had a lot of suitors when the tattoo story came out. Yes, including some Democrats. But I turned all of them down."
On dating again:
Lucre: "Are you happy to stay single and not have a partner ever again in the rest of your life?" Mace: "Yeah." Lucre: "Most people wouldn't be." Mace: "I know. It is lonely. But I don't have any friends up here. What does it really matter? I throw myself into my work. And I work really hard. And it's fine. It is what it is. I'm almost 50. My kids are grown."
On why she won't tone it down:
Mace: "I'm having too much fun... I do enjoy that because there are so many dumbasses in the world. Sometimes somebody has to put them in their place. Even when I'm a dumbass. It's just, it's fine. And I enjoy it. And that's probably why I'll be single the rest of my life."
On her home life:
Mace: "I have my two dogs and a cat... and nobody bitching at me when I get home. Nobody complaining." Lucre: "Except for, you know, you got kids there." Mace: "But they're grown up now."
On men in her DMs:
Mace: "I turn every man down that shows up in my DMs." Lucre: "The guys send you like explicit imagery and stuff?" Mace: "Sometimes. And that's nasty. Don't do that."

On the September 28 Get Maced episode, Nancy Mace mocked 'the left' for saying 'OnlyFans is empowerment, strippers are CEOs' - introducing the line with 'Same crowd,' making clear she was attributing it to Democrats, not endorsing it. The irony: her OWN crowd has been asking if SHE is on OnlyFans for 18 months. The full record: she displayed her own nude photo in a congressional hearing in May 2025; her former aide testified under oath she tried to weaponize nude photos as real-estate leverage; she posted crop-top content that generated 'OnlyFans when??' headlines in April 2025; conservative media used her as the example of a 'springboard into OnlyFans'; a bar in her own SC-01 district circulated a parody beer can reading 'Nancy Mace's OnlyFans Soft Launch'; and four days before the episode she hosted her podcast in a leather catsuit while commenters asked about 'OnlyFans aesthetics.' She does not have an OnlyFans. Her own fans have been asking for 18 months.
