On March 10, 2024, during an appearance on ABC's This Week, Mace responded to host George Stephanopoulos pressing her on her endorsement of Donald Trump in light of her public rape-survivor history:
"I'm not going to sit here on your show and be asked a question meant to shame me about another potential rape victim. I'm not going to do that. I live with shame."
The exchange drew widespread coverage as Mace had publicly discussed being a rape survivor while simultaneously endorsing Trump after his civil liability finding in the E. Jean Carroll case.
