Glenn Meadows is the Chief of Police of the Sullivan's Island Police Department (SIPD), a small coastal municipality in Charleston County, South Carolina. He was promoted to Chief on February 20, 2024. Meadows brings more than 40 years of law enforcement experience to the role. He previously served 25 years with the Newport News, Virginia Police Department, retiring as a sergeant in 2005. Following that career, he undertook civilian service abroad, completing three tours in Iraq and six tours in Afghanistan in a Rule of Law advisory capacity and instructing SWAT training through the U.S. State Department's International Global Anti-Terrorism Assistance Program. He is a State-certified law enforcement instructor in South Carolina. (Sullivan's Island Town website.)

Connection to the Nancy Mace record

Chief Meadows's department became publicly involved in the circumstances surrounding Rep. Nancy Mace's February 10, 2025, House floor speech, in which Mace named four South Carolina men, including Sullivan's Island resident Eric Bowman, and alleged they had committed rape, sex trafficking, and voyeurism. Bowman denied all of Mace's allegations.

February 13, 2025. According to reporting by ABC News 4 and the SC Daily Gazette, a woman visited SIPD headquarters on February 13, 2025, the day after Mace's speech, and "requested someone to speak with regarding the incidents mentioned in Rep. Mace's speech." Chief Meadows interviewed the woman, who "expressed her fears" regarding Bowman. A court motion filed by Bowman in Berg v. Bryant (Case No. 2025-CP-10-03124) and in Bowman v. Britton (2025-CP-10-434) sought admission of a body-worn camera video recorded by Chief Meadows on that date as evidence in civil proceedings; a court order in Berg v. Bryant dated July 22, 2025, addressed that motion. The contents of those proceedings are public court records, though their ultimate resolution remains a matter of ongoing litigation.

Prior SIPD activity. SIPD's involvement predated the floor speech: according to the SC Daily Gazette, the department had been contacted in July 2024 after a tracking device was discovered on a woman's vehicle, and SIPD coordinated with SLED (the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division) on the matter from October 2024 onward.

April 2025, Bowman arrest. Warrants were signed on April 3, 2025. Eric Bowman, 45, surrendered to Sullivan's Island Police on April 8, 2025, at 5 a.m. at the Charleston County jail, where he was booked, according to a release issued by Chief Meadows. Bowman was charged with first-degree harassment (a misdemeanor) and stalking (a felony, punishable by up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine). Bowman denied the charges. Rep. Mace issued a statement praising the arrest. None of the April 2025 charges against Bowman correspond to the allegations Mace made in her February floor speech; they arose from the unrelated tracking-device investigation. (SC Daily Gazette, April 8, 2025; ABC News 4, April 8, 2025.)

August 2025, Second arrest. SIPD arrested Bowman again on August 20, 2025, on a charge of Domestic Violence in the First Degree, following what press coverage described as video evidence the police said showed Bowman assaulting a female victim. The charge is unproven and has not been adjudicated. That arrest is also unrelated to Mace's floor-speech allegations. (SC Daily Gazette, August 20, 2025.)

None of the charges against Bowman have been adjudicated on the merits as of the date of this entry. Chief Meadows has not been accused of wrongdoing; he is documented here in his official law enforcement capacity.
