William Jefferson Clinton (born August 19, 1946) is the 42nd President of the United States (1993-2001), former Governor of Arkansas (1979-1981, 1983-1992), and founder of the Clinton Foundation. What Happened
Background. Clinton's connection to Jeffrey Epstein emerged in civil litigation and investigative reporting, principally through flight logs from Epstein's private aircraft. The logs showed Clinton as a passenger on multiple flights on Epstein's plane, including, according to reporting, to Africa in 2002 for a Clinton Foundation trip and to Europe. Clinton's office acknowledged he had flown on Epstein's plane on several occasions but said Secret Service agents were present on every leg. No Epstein survivor or associate has publicly accused Clinton of participating in or witnessing Epstein's criminal conduct.
August 5, 2025, Subpoena. House Oversight Committee issued a subpoena to Bill Clinton in connection with its investigation into the Epstein files. The subpoena was issued the same day as one served on Hillary Clinton.
Contempt. Clinton declined to comply with the subpoena. The House Oversight Committee voted to hold him in contempt. Reporting described the vote as bipartisan.
February 27, 2026, Deposition. Clinton was deposed by the House Oversight Committee. His opening statement, as reported:
"I saw nothing, and I did nothing wrong."
Clinton stated that his "brief acquaintance with Jeffrey Epstein ended years before his crimes came to light." On what he observed during his time around Epstein, he testified:
"There's nothing that I saw when I was around him that made me realize he was trafficking women."
March 2, 2026, Video released. Portions of the deposition video were released publicly by the committee the same day as Hillary Clinton's deposition video.
