Hillary Clinton
Former U.S. Secretary of State, U.S. Senator, and 2016 Democratic presidential nominee subpoenaed by House Oversight in August 2025 over Epstein files; held in bipartisan contempt after declining to appear; deposed February 26, 2026 in Chappaqua. Clinton has consistently stated she did not know Jeffrey Epstein.

Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton (born October 26, 1947) served as the 67th U.S. Secretary of State (2009-2013), U.S. Senator from New York (2001-2009), First Lady of the United States (1993-2001), and was the Democratic Party's presidential nominee in 2016. She is one of the most prominent figures in modern American political history.
Clinton has not been accused of Epstein-related wrongdoing. She has consistently and unambiguously denied any knowledge of or association with Jeffrey Epstein or his crimes.
What Happened
August 5, 2025, Subpoena. House Oversight Committee, then chaired by Rep. Nancy Mace, issued a subpoena to Hillary Clinton in connection with its investigation into the Jeffrey Epstein files and Epstein's network of associates. The committee cited its authority to investigate and seek testimony from individuals named or referenced in Justice Department materials related to Epstein.
Contempt. Clinton declined to comply with the subpoena. The House Oversight Committee voted to hold her in contempt. The contempt vote was described in reporting as bipartisan.
February 26, 2026, Deposition, Chappaqua, New York. Clinton was deposed at her home in Chappaqua, New York. The session lasted approximately four hours and thirty-five minutes. Her attorney was present throughout. The deposition was transcribed.
Clinton's consistent, repeated testimony on the core question, as reported:
"I did not know Jeffrey Epstein. I never went to his island. I never went to his homes, I never went to his offices."
March 2, 2026, Video released. Portions of the deposition video were released publicly by the committee.
The Lutnick exchange. The deposition included a widely-covered, heated exchange between Clinton and Rep. Mace involving Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick. The exchange drew substantial press attention; see the dispatch Mace Questions Hillary Clinton for a detailed account.
