On CNN on June 7, 2026, two days before the South Carolina Republican gubernatorial primary, Mace addressed the endorsement she did not receive from President Trump:

"If the price of an endorsement was to not vote to release the Epstein files, that is a price I am unwilling to pay."

The interview came after Trump had endorsed Lt. Gov. Pam Evette in late May, a move Mace had publicly attributed to her vote the previous November to release the Epstein files. Mace was polling in the mid-teens heading into primary day.
