Mace says mystery drones being "craft from outer space" has "to be on the table"

Asked in December 2024 whether the wave of unidentified drones over New Jersey and the Northeast could be alien in origin, Rep. Nancy Mace said on the record that 'craft from outer space' had to be 'on the table' as an option.

Amid the December 2024 wave of unidentified drone sightings over New Jersey and the broader Northeast, Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) went on the record saying the possibility that the objects were alien in origin could not be ruled out. Asked whether the drones could be "craft from outer space," Mace told Newsweek:

"I think that has to be on the table. It has to be an option."

Officials from the FAA, Pentagon, and FBI investigated the sightings. Authorities later attributed the bulk of the reported sightings to ordinary aircraft, hobbyist drones, and misidentified stars and planets. No confirmed extraterrestrial origin was established.

Mace had co-chaired the House Oversight UAP hearing less than a month earlier, on November 13, 2024. Her comment on the drones extended her sustained on-record engagement with UAP and unexplained aerial phenomena into the December sighting controversy. See UAP & the Hearings for the full record.
