Sydney Long

Former communications director for Rep. Nancy Mace's congressional office (May 2025, February 2026) and simultaneous spokeswoman for Mace's gubernatorial campaign.

Sydney Long

Sydney Denise Long served as communications director for Rep. Nancy Mace's (R-SC-01) congressional office from May 2025 through February 2026, per LegiStorm's congressional staff database. Prior to that promotion, she served as Mace's digital director and local press secretary on both the congressional and campaign sides. A College of Charleston alumna with roots in South Carolina's Lowcountry, Long was publicly described by Mace as "the youngest Communications Director on the Hill" at the time of her appointment.

Connection to the Nancy Mace record

Mace's congressional office issued a formal press release on April 21, 2025 announcing Long's promotion to communications director. The release noted her prior role as digital director and local press secretary and directed all media inquiries to her. Long simultaneously served as spokeswoman for Mace's 2025-2026 South Carolina gubernatorial campaign, fielding press inquiries related to that race.

In December 2025, Long, in her role as campaign spokeswoman, publicly responded to the resignation of campaign consultant Austin McCubbin, disputing his account of his departure and fundraising performance. Her statements on behalf of the campaign were quoted in the Post and Courier and other outlets.

LegiStorm records Long's tenure as communications director ending in February 2026. She subsequently joined Frontline Strategies as director of communications, a political consulting firm that publicly announced her arrival and noted her prior role with Mace's office.

Long is named in a publicly filed court affidavit (Berg v. Bryant, Case No. 2025-CP-10-03124, filed December 22, 2025 in Charleston County Court of Common Pleas) as someone with "potentially relevant information" in that litigation. That filing is part of the public court record.
