Bombshell Deposition: Nancy Mace's Former Strategist Unloads

FITSNews broke the Donehue deposition story two days before the Post and Courier, publishing lengthy excerpts of Donehue's sworn testimony that Mace pressed him to blackmail Bryant and that the original complaint contained no rape or sex-trafficking claims. Mace denies the characterization; all parties are adverse in ongoing civil litigation.

"I don't believe a word that comes out of Nancy Mace's mouth about anything", she is a "chronic liar who constantly plays the victim card for her own benefit.", Wesley Donehue, deposition testimony, as reported by FITSNews

FITSNews was first to publish, on May 21, 2025, extensive excerpts from the sworn deposition of Wesley Donehue, Mace's former campaign strategist, in the civil litigation surrounding her split from ex-fiancé Patrick Bryant. Will Folks reported that Donehue testified under oath that Mace directly asked him to use information about Bryant to extract financial concessions, not to contact law enforcement.

A central passage of the testimony, as reported by FITSNews, went directly to what Donehue said was the origin of the dispute:

"she asked me to blackmail Patrick Bryant", Wesley Donehue, deposition testimony

FITSNews further reported that Donehue characterized what Mace had told him about the underlying allegations at the time. The following is Donehue's contested account of Mace's prior statements to him, not an established fact, and not a finding by any court. Bryant denies all underlying allegations; no criminal charges have been filed against Bryant in connection with these claims; Donehue's account is disputed by Mace and remains unproven and contested in active litigation:

"There was never any discussion of rape or sex trafficking or anything beyond the fact that he had pictures of naked women taken without their consent.", Wesley Donehue, deposition testimony, as reported by FITSNews

According to FITSNews's reporting, the foregoing is an excerpt of Donehue's deposition testimony; Maceopedia has not independently verified the transcript or its placement on a public docket. Mace disputes Donehue's account and has continued to describe her public allegations as truthful. Bryant denies all underlying allegations. All claims in the deposition are contested allegations only; no criminal charges have been filed against Bryant in connection with these claims; litigation between Mace, Bryant, and related parties is active in South Carolina courts.

FITSNews's publication of the excerpts preceded the Post and Courier's follow-up by two days and set the terms of the national media coverage that followed.
