Mace says DeSantis six-week abortion ban 'isn't the way to change hearts and minds. It's not compassionate.'

On April 30, 2023, Mace criticized Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis's six-week abortion ban as uncompassionate toward rape and incest victims, calling a 15-to-20 week ban with exceptions the 'sweet spot.'

On CBS Face the Nation on April 30, 2023, shortly after Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a six-week abortion ban, Mace said:

"Signing a six-week ban that puts women who are victims of rape and girls are victims of incest in a hard spot isn't the way to change hearts and minds. It's not compassionate."

Mace also described a 15-to-20 week ban with rape, incest, and life-of-mother exceptions as the "sweet spot," and warned that strict bans without exceptions put DeSantis "in a very difficult position for a general election."
