As rioters breached the Capitol, Mace posted from her locked-down office that protesters assaulting Capitol Police was 'wrong' and that she was 'heartbroken for our nation.'

On January 6, 2021, as a mob breached the U.S. Capitol, Rep. Nancy Mace posted from her locked-down office in the Cannon building:
"Just evacuated my office in Cannon due to a nearby threat. Now we're seeing protesters assaulting Capitol Police. This is wrong. This is not who we are. I'm heartbroken for our nation today."
In the days that followed, Mace said Donald Trump's "entire legacy" had been "wiped out" by the attack and called the rioters "domestic terrorists." She later reconciled with Trump, and in 2024 endorsed him and branded herself "Trump in high heels."
