"Take it outside"

During the January 14, 2025 House Oversight Committee organizational meeting, Rep. Nancy Mace challenged Rep. Jasmine Crockett, "If you want to take it outside, we can do that", weeks after Mace had claimed an activist injured her arm with an aggressive handshake, a characterization critics disputed. The contrast spawned a round of memes pairing her challenge with images of full-body casts.

During the January 14, 2025 House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform organizational meeting, Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX), debating an amendment to reinstate the Subcommittee on Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, criticized Mace's rhetoric on transgender people and said "and chile, listen." Mace, taking it as being called a child, cut in: "Do not call me a child. I am no child. I am a grown woman. I am 47 years old. I have broken more glass ceilings than you ever have… If you want to take it outside, we can do that." Chairman James Comer gaveled for order; he later said the remark could simply mean stepping outside for "a cup of coffee, or maybe a beer."

The mockery angle, as documented by the Daily Dot, turned on a contrast: weeks earlier Mace had said an activist injured her arm with an aggressive handshake, a characterization critics disputed, so when she dared a colleague to "take it outside," meme-makers paired the challenge with images of full-body casts, pointing out the apparent contradiction.
