'Get your nose done'

When Rep. Sara Jacobs argued on the House floor that cosmetic procedures are forms of gender-affirming care, Mace shouted 'You are disgusting' from her seat, then followed up on X with a remark telling the Jewish congresswoman to 'get your nose done,' which antisemitism watchdogs condemned as an antisemitic trope.

During a September 10, 2025 House floor debate over gender-affirming care, Rep. Sara Jacobs (D-CA) argued that cosmetic procedures, including "boob jobs," Botox, and filler, are forms of gender-affirming care. Mace, audibly off-mic, shouted "Absolutely ridiculous! ... You are disgusting," according to Mediaite and The Hill. Two days later, Mace posted a response on X that began by invoking her own history as a sexual assault survivor, then closed with a line telling Jacobs, who is Jewish, to "get your nose done." Multiple antisemitism watchdogs and The Forward condemned the remark as invoking a longstanding antisemitic stereotype.

Mace's original floor response (September 10):

Mace's follow-up post (September 12):

Mace's September 12 post, the "nose done" line that drew widespread condemnation.

Jacobs' response to the nose remark:

"I didn't say anything about your body but thanks for confirming! And going with the Jewish nose joke…very creative (and also very antisemitic)."

Rep. Sara Jacobs (@RepSaraJacobs), as quoted by The Forward

The Forward, reporting for JTA, described the remark as invoking a "longstanding antisemitic stereotype" about Jewish noses. Two watchdog groups condemned the post:

The Nexus Project, described by The Forward as "a left-leaning antisemitism watchdog group," wrote on Bluesky that Mace's comments were "antisemitic, schoolyard bullying about their Jewish colleagues' noses generally, and especially in a post about respecting women's bodies."

The Jewish Democratic Council of America stated: "Telling a Jewish woman to get a nose job is antisemitism. Full stop."

(Both characterizations, antisemitic, dog-whistle, are attributed to the named organizations and The Forward; they represent those speakers' views.)
