Over 50 leaders sign letter backing Charleston airport workers amid Mace's lawsuit threat
Ian Kayanja ·
More than 50 South Carolina elected officials and civic leaders signed an open letter expressing support for Charleston International Airport workers in the wake of Rep. Mace's October 30 incident and her subsequent threat to sue the airport. The letter praised the professionalism of airport and TSA personnel.
The letter was published the same day Mace announced plans to sue American Airlines and Charleston International Airport for defamation, and directly countered her characterization of airport staff. Signatories included state legislators, mayors, and other local officials from the Charleston region. Mace did not dispute that she had used profane language, stating publicly: "Did I drop an f-bomb? I hope I did."
"Their work ensures that families can travel safely, businesses can thrive and visitors leave with a positive experience that reflects the hospitality our region is known for."
