"What is a woman?", Mace vs. Gov. Tim Walz

A supercut of the full exchange from Rep. Nancy Mace’s questioning of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz at the March 4, 2026 House Oversight hearing, Mace’s question, Walz’s "prop" retort, and Mace’s closing line on fraud.

On March 4, 2026, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz testified before the House Oversight Committee on allegations of widespread fraud in Minnesota’s COVID-era child nutrition programs. Rep. Nancy Mace questioned him.

This supercut stitches the complete “define a woman” exchange, each moment cut from the official C-SPAN feed and captioned word-for-word:

  1. "Governor Walz, what is a woman? Have you learned that lesson? Do you know what a woman is?", Mace’s question.
  2. "I’m the governor of Minnesota, congresswoman. I’m not here to be your prop for your obsession.", Walz’s response.
  3. "If you can’t define what a woman is, you certainly can’t define what fraud is.", Mace’s closing line.

Walz and his office contest the characterizations Mace made throughout this hearing. The underlying fraud allegations are the subject of ongoing investigation. What the footage documents is a sitting congresswoman’s own words at a federal oversight hearing.

The footage is the official C-SPAN congressional hearing feed (a U.S. government work / public domain).
