On July 26, 2023, at the House Oversight National Security subcommittee hearing on Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena, Rep. Nancy Mace questioned whistleblower David Grusch, a former senior intelligence official turned UAP whistleblower, in one of the most-watched Congressional exchanges on the topic.

- "Were they, I guess, human or nonhuman biologics?", Mace asks whether recovered material came from human or non-human remains. Grusch answered: "Non-human, and that was the assessment of people with direct knowledge on the program."
- "Do you believe our government has made contact with intelligent extraterrestrials?", Grusch responded: "Something I can't discuss in a public setting."
- "Do we have the bodies of the pilots who piloted this craft?", Grusch stated that "biologics came with some of these recoveries."
Grusch's claims are unverified and contested; no government agency has confirmed them; Grusch has said that full details can only be discussed in a classified setting. What the footage documents is a sitting congresswoman's on-the-record questioning of a named whistleblower at a public hearing.
